Description From Owner:

  • Flea Market newly opened May of 2009. Extensive selection of glorious perennials; Asiatic and Oriental Lilies, Hostas, and a large selection of various perennial types.
  • Wholesale and Retail...we can deliver.
  • ASIATIC lilies are generally more colorful (orange, yellow, bright red, multi colored) and grow 3-4' tall although there are smaller varities, also. They bloom in May/June and have very thin strap like foilage which clings to the flower stem.
  • ASIATIC lilies: The flowers are nice and large, but not as large as the orientals and they also lack their wonderful scent.
  • ASIATIC lilies produce offsets (baby lilies) like crazy all on their own, even first year in the ground. Harvest these bulblets and you have a flowering lily in 2-3 years (usually 2).
  • ORIENTAL lilies have larger, fragrant flowers and with more silk or velvet like texture. Whereas the asiatics have the 'candyland' look orientals are often considered to be more fancy.
  • ORIENTAL lilies: The flowers are often larger and have more texture in the petals. The bloom later June/September depending on cultivar.
  • Scaling lilies are really easy. Take a plastic bag and half fill it with moist (but not soaked) peatmoss spaghnum. Simply break off a few of the outer scales of the bulb when you receive them.
  • It usually takes 3 months or longer for the bulblets to reach a good mature size. If you see green leaves in the bag you can gently break off the bulblet which has the leaf and plant it. Grow it protected indoor until it gets a bit bigger.
  • Place them in the bag and close it. place it on 70 deg F bottom heat (or on the water heater) untill small bulblets form at the end of the scales.
