- Enjoy the Fair season throughout Ontario and congratulate the organizers on the hard work and dedication of showcasing rural Ontario.
- Pop. 7,632. In Reg. Mun. of Halton on Acton Cr. at Hwy 7 and C. Rds. 25 & 125,56 Ian W of Toronto. Settled in 1820 as Danville.
- The name was changed to Adamsville in 1852 to honour the ftrst settlers -- Zenas, Rufus and Ezra Adams. In 1844 postmaster Robert Swan renamed the place after his hometown in Northumberland, England.
- In 1974, Acton, Georgetown and part ofEsquesing T. were joined to form the town of Halton Hills. Acton has long been known for its tanning industry. In the mid-1870s the Nelles tannery was producing up to 20,000 sides of leather annually.
