- Enjoy the Fair season throughout Ontario and congratulate the organizers on the hard work and dedication of showcasing rural Ontario.
- Pop. 34,411. In the Reg. Mun. of York on C. Rd. 1, 29 km N of Toronto.
- Settled in 1804 by Richard Machell, and fIrst known as Machell's Corners because Machell acquired the comer ofYonge and Wellington streets. In 1853 the first train to run in Ontario arrived in Aurora from Toronto.
- In 1854 postmaster Charles Doan renamed the community Aurora for the Greek goddess of the dawn.
- A fire in 1886 destroyed much of the town on the west side of Yonge St. Aurora is the home of St. Adrew's College. The two-story white brick pool, built m High Victonan style m 1886, now houses the Aurora Museum.
