- Pop. 331. In Anstruther T., Peterborough C., on Eel's Cr. and Hwy 28 and C. Rds. 504, 620, and A620, 60 km. NE of Peterborough.
- The fIrst settlers arrived in 1862. Charles J. Vizard built a sawmill on Eel's Cr. and became the fIrst postmaster when a post office was established in 1865.
- The name may have de¬rived from Apsley House, the London, England, home ofthe Duke of Wellington.
