  • Pop. 1,228. In Alfred T., Prescott and Russell Cs., on C. Rd. 17, 63 km. E of Ottawa.
  • Settled in the early 1800s and first known as Bradyville after Thomas Brady the frrst hotelier.
  • When the post office was established in 1842, the community was named Alfred after the township, which honours Prince Alfred, son of George III of Great Britain.
