- Pop. 244. In Ekfrid T., Middlesex C., on C. Rds. 8 & 14 and the CNR, 32 km. SW of London.
- Scottish immigrants created a settlement before 1850. The arrival of the Great Western Railway in 1854 brought more settlers to the community that became known as Ekfrid Centre.
- In 1861, Dr. D. S. McKellar purchased land, surveyed it into village lots and named the community Appin in honour of his birth place in Argyllshire, Scotland.
