  • Pop. 1,341. In Balmer T., Kenora Dist., Patricia Portion, on Red L. and Hwy 125, 169 Ian N ofHwy 17 and 212 km. NW of Dryden.
  • The community started after rich deposits of gold were discovered on the shores of Red L. in 1925.
  • The post office was established in 1848 and named after Balmer T., named after Balmer NeiIy, an executive of a Timmins gold mine.
