- Pop. 440. In Summers T., Thunder Bay Dist., on the Blackwater R., 12 km. E ofL. Nipigon, on Hwy 11, 80 km. N of Nipigon.
- The community was settled in 1920 as a CNR flagstop and named Beardmore Station after the Beardmore family, early settlers.
- In the 1930s, when gold was discovered, the community was also known as West Beardmore Mines and Buffalo Beardmore Mines. The mines are no longer operating, and today the community is supported by pulp logging, hunters, and sport fishermen.
