- Pop. 236. In Matilda T., Stormont, Dundas and G1encarry Cs., on C. Rd. 2, 20 km NW of Morrisburg.
- When two men named McDonald and Brouse were awarded the contract to build the Matilda plank road, they built a sawmill on a site that developed into Brinston.
- George Barton opened the first store and a hotel and then was bought out by Thomas Brinston.
- When Charles Lock became postmaster in 1873, the place was known as Brinston's Corners. In 1909 the name was shortened to Brinston.
