- Pop. 2,063. Part of the Town of Whitby in the Reg. Mun. of Durham on Lynde's Cr. and Hwy 7 and C. Rd. 12,9 km N of Whitby.
- In 1840 John and Robert Campbell built a flour mill, and a settlement formed called Winchester. The post office, opened in 1847, changed the name to Brooklin, possibly inspired by Brooklyn, NY.
