- Pop. 3,620. In the Reg. Mun. of Sudbury, W of Wanapitei L., on C. Rd. 84, 24 km. N of Sudbury.
- The community began as a divisional point on the Canadian Northern Railway, which was constructing a line from Port Arthur, via Capreol, to Ottawa in 1911.
- . The community was named after Frederick Chase Capreol, a Toronto railway promoter who was the driving force behind the Ontario, Simcoe and Huron Railway in the 1850s.
