- Pop. 342. In Athol T., Prince Edward C., on C. Rds. 10 & 18, 10 km. S of Picton.
- The first settler was Col. Henry Young, in 1783. The place was named by early settler Alva Stephens, who arrived in 1812.
- His inspiration may have been the wild cherry trees growing in the valley, or his hometown of Cherry Valley, New York. The post office was established as Cherry Valley in 1848.
