- Pop. 1,473. In Winchester T., Dundas C., on the South Nation R. and C. Rd. 7 just N of C. Rd. 43, 64 km. SE of Ottawa.
- George Hummel, a United Empire Loyalist, settled in 1817. The settlement was ftrst known as Armstrong's Mills because of Thomas Armstrong's saw- and grist mills.
- A post office, called Winchester after the township, opened in 1845. In 1875 the first telegraph office opened.
- The first operator was Chester T. Casselman, and residents decided to name their village after him.
