- Pop. 723. In Gosfield North T., Essex C., on C. Rds. 27 & 34, 14 km. N of Kingsville.
- Settled around 1818 after completion of the Talbot Rd. When the post office opened in 1877, the postmaster, Major W. E. Wagstaff, named the settlement after a village in either Lancashire or Nottinghamshire, England, where he had spent his childhood.
