- Pop. 911. In Armstrong T., TimiskamingDist.,on Hwy 11 and C. Rds. 571 & 640, 29 km. NW of New Liskeard.
- The first pioneers moved into Ontario's 'little clay belt' around 1900. This extremely fertile region supports beef and dairy herds.
- The community was named after George Earl Brasher, the first child born here, in 1904, son of postmaster Albert Edward Brasher.
- Sir George Yonge, the secretary of war. Simcoe named the township after his wife, whose maiden name was Gwillim.
