- Pop. 745. In Darlington T., Durham C., on Bowmanville Cr. and C. Rd. 4, 9 km N of Bowmanville.
- The community was settled in 1840 by Henry Elliott, who built a mill and after whom the place was called Elliott's Mills. In 1848 the name was changed to Millville.
- That name was later changed to Hampton, part of the name Kilkhampton, the home of the Elliotts in North Cornwall, England.
