- Pop. 117. In Grey c. on the Beaver R. and C. Rd. 13, 32 km W of Collingwood.
- William Fleming settled here in the 1840s and for a time the place was called Williamstown after him.
- That name was already in use elsewhere in Ontario, so when the post office opened in 1859, this community was called Heathcote, possibly after a place of that name in Derbyshire, England.
