- Pop. 37. In Kinloss T., Bruce C. on Hwy 9 and C. Rd. 1, 19 km SE of Kincardine.
- The community was first called Black Horse Corners after the Black Horse Tavern opened there by William Shelton.
- In 1854 the place took the name ofthe township which had been named four years earlier for one of the titles of James Bruce, 8th Earl of Elgin and 12th Earl of Kincardine who was governor of the province of Canada 1846-1854.
