- Nobleton Pop. 3,177. In Reg. Mun. of York, on C. Rds. 11 & 27,45 km. NW of Toronto. Settlement began in 1812, and the place is named after Joseph Noble, an early storekeeper.
- In 1857 postmaster William Munsie changed the name ofthe post office to Lammer Moor, possibly after Sir Walter Scott's novel The Bride of Lammermoor.
- The villagers objected and the name was changed back to Nobleton.
