- Pop. 286. In Malahide T., Elgin C., on Hwy 3 & C. Rd. 35, 8 km E of St. Thomas. The community was first called Catfish Corners.
- The post office opened as Temperanceville in 1849, and in 1856 the name was changed to Orwell, possibly after a community in Vermont.
