  • Pop. 268. In Malabide T., Elgin C., on the north shore of L. Erie at the mouth of Catfish Cr. and C. Rds. 24 & 73, 39 km. SE of St. Thomas.
  • The community was called Catfish Creek until Elgin C. was partitioned off from Middlesex C. in 1852. It was then named Port Bruce to honour James Bruce Earl of Elgin and governor of the province of Canada 1847-1854.
