  • Pop. 500. In Orillia T., Simcoe C., on the SW shore of Sparrow L. (a widening of the Severn R.), on C. Rd. 38, 22 km. N of Orillia.
  • The settlement was first known as Sparrow Lake. A summer post office was opened in 1907, and the place was named by the first postmaster, Frank Stanton, after his father Thomas, who had settled in 1875.
