- Pop. 150. In the Town of Pelham, Reg. Mun. of Niagara on C. Rd. 63, 2.5 km. SW of Fonthill.
- The community was first called Steele's Corners after merchant Jonas Steele.
- In 1865, when the post office was established and Steele became the postmaster, he and his business colleague John B. Crowl changed to the name to Ridgeville because of the settlement's location on southern ridge of the Short Hills.
