- Pop. 626. In the Reg. Mun. of Ottawa-Carleton on C. Rds. 8 & 33, 24 km SE of Ottawa.
- From 1881 to 1886 the place was called Bearbrook Station after a local stream. The post office was established in 1886 and named Vars after the birthplace in the French Alps of Fr. Casimir Guillaume, a priest who came to Canada in 1859.
