- Pop. 100. In Reg. Mun. of Haldimand-Norfolk on C. Rds. 3 & 10, 16 km SW of Simcoe.
- Thomas Welch, a native of Maryland, settled here about 1800 and became registrar of deeds for Norfolk County.
- His son changed the spelling of their names to Walsh and when the post office was established m 1865, they called the community after themselves.
