- Pop. 312. In Gainsborough T., Reg. Mun. of Niagara on the WeIland R. and C. Rds. 4, 27 and 63, 23 km. W of Welland.
- In the early 1870s the settlement was called The Narrows. In 1875 the name changed to Welland Port and in 1895 to Welland Fort. When the post office opened in 1956 the town's name was changed to Wellandport.
