Dyment, Dryden

Karen Daignault on 09-Aug-17
My father Jack Robinson grew up and lived in Dyment his whole life. In 1998 he built a small private museum to keep some of the history of Dyment for people to see, it started out as a hobby but as more and more people heard about his little gem in his back yard, people started donating to the cause. It has now grown to include two buildings and a caboose, yes I said a caboose in the back yard as well as many tractors and trucks from the area. My husband and I have now taken over the museum as it got to be to much for my parents to do but they are still actively involved in it. If you have a chance to come out to Dyment and take a look around this little treasure in the middle of now where we would love to see you. You can get ahold of me through my email, kdaigs1971@gmail.com thank you and hope to see you soon!

Hastings Village Marina, Hastings

David and Nancy Lynn on 08-Aug-17
Monday, August 7, 2017 We must compliment and thank the Hastings Village Marina manager, Wow! service, empathy, and an excellent place to come to. When we first arrived Sunday morning , he was busy making sure the establishment was clean and ready for guests and visitors. The washrooms were immaculate. He welcomed us, gave us directions for parking and using the boat launch - a great start to a day away from the city with friends for a boat ride on Rice Lake. It was when we arrived back that true 'over the edge' service began and we learned first hand what a wonderful community Hastings Village is. When we pulled into the dock, my husband leaped off our boat to help moor it. He managed to fall in a very awkward way and was hurt (He did break a bone in his ankle). Within seconds the manager of the Marina was there to help and call for an ambulance. He remained nearby and was very instrumental in getting help fast- volunteer firefighters arrived first and made the first assessment. The firefighters were efficient, knowledgeable and very sympathetic. The paramedics who carried us off to Campbellford Hospital were also exemplary in my husband’s treatment. . We were in and out of the hospital in under two hours (x-rays included). The couple who came over to help with the boat simply appeared, did the deed and left without waiting for our sincere thanks. Small town people with big hearts - That will be our remembrance of Hastings. David and Nancy Lynn dhlynn@sympatico.ca Burlington, Ontario

Bring the bug spray! But wow.... what an awesome walk through nature. Saw a deer, lots of squirrels, raccoon 'signs', etc. The whole family had a blast. Cannot wait to do it again. So clean, so fresh, so fun. If you have not been - do it!
