Description From Owner:
- Nestled in the quiet hills of Northumberland County, Fogorig Mill has stood since 1834 as both a place of gathering and a symbol of resilience.
- Built by Scottish settler Captain Thomas Allan, its name ties back to his homeland “Fogo” for the village he left behind, and “rig” for the ridge that rises just beyond the mill.
- In its early days, the mill’s steam-driven wheels turned grain into flour for neighbouring farms, filling the valley with the hum of work and the scent of fresh harvests.
- Today, though the stones are weathered and the wheels long stilled, the mill’s spirit remains: rustic, enduring, and quietly romantic, a place where history and landscape come together to welcome new stories.
