I have only had positive experiences with John of Redtail. He patently walked me through the benefits of each different type of paddle, wood characteristics, finishes and how to maintain them. He also generously repaired and re-finished my paddle (which I damaged from misuse). If you're looking for a truly hand crafted locally made product, and knowledgeable staff this is your place. Thanks again John for the terrific experience.

A long overdue review but better late than never, and I have nothing but great things to say about Redtail! I purchased a paddle back in September for an anniversary gift and my partner absolutely loved it. I'm so happy with how it turned out, and the entire process was such a positive experience. John walked me through the benefits of each different type of paddle, wood characteristics, finishes, which was helpful for someone who has never purchased a paddle before in her life (my partner has been canoeing and portaging for years, and now I'm hooked). John even sent me photos of how the engraving would look before it was done, which helped me to feel like I was really part of the creative process. And finally shipped the paddle to me incredibly speedily, even in Covid times! If you're looking for a beautiful, high-quality, hand-crafted paddle, look no further. I highly recommend purchasing a Redtail paddle for your next adventure!

John at Red Tail Paddle makes shopping for a new paddle an art form. He takes you on a journey when you first enter his shop. His knowledge and history of crafting paddles really shines as he personally helps find the right paddle for you.
