Visited last week. The food is amazing. The owners used to be butchers so you can definitely order burgers from a fish and chips place. It was amazing. They also offer a gluten free bun and the desserts are made in house or locally. I can’t wait to go back.

The best haddock and chips! However, we had a waitress serving to our table, couple of days ago while we were ordering fish and chips, she asked do you want gravy on top or side? We said sure on the side. Thinking it was a gravy for seafood and included the price. She brought us meat gravy on the side and it was extra not included the price. Very disappointing….. Food and place itself really amazing so keeping our 5 star review because this place has the best fish & chips in the area.

My friend and I went here over the weekend after visiting a Wolf Research and Education Centre. The food and service was amazing. We felt very welcomed and our server was so helpful with helping us pick the best food options that evening. I had the seafood Alfredo and my friend had the Halibut fish with onion rings (you can substitute fries with it) which came with their amazing homemade sauce. I really admired how they purchase their food items from local farmers in the area. This is definitely worth the place to visit if you’re in the area!

Hubby & I visited The Original Just For The Halibut Restaurant in Bobcaygeon for lunch on Friday November 6 2020. Having researched local Fish & Chips, it was our mission to travel there to sample their food. This establishment is set up with outstanding precautions regarding current pandemic regulations, and we felt completely comfortable dining there. The atmosphere is great - low key and nostalgic music that was just right for us 60 year olds. We were also pleasantly surprised to find that their Fish & Chips (and onion rings/cole slaw) were some of the best we have ever had! The staff were friendly and very attentive, without being overly so. The price is reasonable considering the portion sizes, and the quality of food. Definitely will return and try many other delicious looking meal options as often as we can. Highly recommend to others.

This unassuming family friendly diner is actually surprisingly spacious inside. The staff here were fantastic and made you feel so welcomed, the food was great with generous portions and atmosphere was very homey, like you were having Sunday dinner at grandpa's place. They also have a take- out window an extensive beer list. The crab and lobster cake is a must order! The only thing that fell short for me was the fish chowder, it was too thick and a little bland.

Whether you are looking for a new place to try or a regular spot for your dinning needs, Just for the Halibut is the place! The food is always fresh and tasty and the service is personal and friendly. I cannot recommend this place enough for either a quick take-out lunch, a business meeting, or an intimate date night.

Oh my God! I have been to your restaurant about 6 times in the past few years. The service has always been fabulous, the ambiance great and the food fantastic. I normally get just halibut and chips (to die for!) but this time it was a group of ladies celebrating a 50th birthday and we all went 'whole hog' with 4 different appetizers and 4 different entrees. They were all fantastic. I highly recommend the escargot and my steak was cooked an absolutely perfect 'rare'. It's better than many steakhouses I have been to. I had the 'senior' steak. YUMMY! Thanks for a great experience.

Hi there, we have visited your restaurant many times while on vacation and loved the food and atmosphere. I have been diagnosed with Celiac disease this past year so can no longer eat gluten - are there any gluten free options at your restaurant? thank you

The best fish and chips we've ever had. We come from New Liskeard, On. to visit my sister and never come without going out for dinner. We have recommended The Halibut to all our friends and they now come to visit Bobcaygeon to go to Bigley's and Just for The Halibut. Thanks!!

This is the best (the very best place) within 100 miles of Bobcaygeon. When it re-opens don't pass it by.
