- Pop. 4,354. In Usborne and Stephen Ts., Huron C., on the Ausable R. and Hwy 4 and C. Rd. 83, 50 km NW of London.
- The James Willis family settled in 1832. In 1833 William McConnell built a sawmill on the river and a settlement formed, frrst known as Francestown (and sometimes misspelled Francistown).
- McConnell named the community Exeter after the county town in Devon, England.
- The Rt. Hon. James G. Gardiner (1883-1962) was born near Exeter in Hibbert T. He served as premier of Saskatchewan 1926-1929 and 1934-1935.
