Pop. 1,228. In Alfred T., Prescott and Russell Cs., on C. Rd. 17, 63 km. E of Ottawa.
Settled in the early 1800s and first known as Bradyville after Thomas Brady the frrst hotelier.
When the post office was established in 1842, the community was named Alfred after the township, which honours Prince Alfred, son of George III of Great Britain.
