Pop. 444. In Peel T., Wellington C., on C. Rds. 7 & 17,30 km. N of Kitchener.
Alexander MacCrea and his wife came from Port Hope in 1848 and settled where the townships of Peel, Nichol, and Pilkington now meet.
When the post office was established in 1854, the place was called MacCrae's Corners.
In 1870 when the Wellington, Grey and Bruce Railway arrived, the name was changed to Alma, commemorating a British and French victory over Russian Forces near the Alma R. in the Crimean War in 1854.
