Pop. 620. In Vespra T., Simcoe C., on Hwy 26 and C. Rd. 22 and the CNR, 14.5 km. NW of Barrie.
Before the post office opened in 1879, the community was named Hendrie and the railway station just outside town is still known by that name.
When the post office was to be named, influential mill owners Anderson and Tennant used the fIrst syllable of their names -- An/Ten to create the community's name.

As the daughter of a Scot who lived in Rural Route 1, and RR2 Anten Mills, back in the 1950's (and likely well beyond this) I wondered if you could advise me as to where I might find any information about him. His name was Bradford (Brad) Watson and I believe in 1956 he was already married to Jean (Watson). In 1956 he would have been 46 years old. It's a long time ago, I know. But I keep thinking, perhaps the archives of a local newspaper etc might hold obituary details etc. I realise this is not the purpose of your website, and I apologise, but just in case you can think of anywhere I could try... We have recently purchased a house on Horseshoe Valley Rd. W. that we have been told was built in 1860 and was the first post office in Anten Mills.
