- Pop. 620. In Vespra T., Simcoe C., on Hwy 26 and C. Rd. 22 and the CNR, 14.5 km. NW of Barrie.
- Before the post office opened in 1879, the community was named Hendrie and the railway station just outside town is still known by that name.
- When the post office was to be named, influential mill owners Anderson and Tennant used the fIrst syllable of their names -- An/Ten to create the community's name.
