- Pop. 94. In Madoc T., Hastings C. at the confluence of the Jordan and Moira Rs. and on Hwy 62,45 km N of Belleville.
- The place was fIrst called Mumby's Mills after miller William Mumby from England who settled in 1860.
- After Mumby mixed it up with a Scotsman one night, the local tavern owner recalled the famous victory of the Scots over the English at Bannockburn. When the post office opened in 1862, that name was given to the post office.
