- Pop. 1,952. Part of Brock T., Reg. Mun. of Durham, on the E. shore of L. Simcoe at the mouth of the Beaverton R. and C. Rds. 15 & 23, 38 km. SE of Orillia.
- Scottish settlers fIrst arrived in 1822. The community was known as Milltown, Milton, and Beaver River until the Beaverton post office opened in 1836.
- The First Nations Peoples originally referred to the place as Beaver because there were many in the river of the same name.
- St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church, known locally as the Old Stone Church, was built from fIeldstone by members of its congregation, starting in 1840. Services were conducted in English and Gaelic.
