- Pop. 603. In Manvers T., Victoria C., on Hwy 7 A and C. Rd. 38, 22 km. SW of Peterborough.
- Bethany came into being when the Midland Railway line was being built from Port Hope to Lindsay in the 1850s.
- The place was named by a Mr. McAllister, a community leader, who took the name from the Bible. In 1911 a fire destroyed half the village. Devil's Elbow ski area is 1.5 km N of Bethany.
