Ontario Tourism Region : Northeastern Ontario
Description From Owner:
- Pop. 1,090. Part of the Town of Valley East, Reg. Mun. of Sudbury on C. Rd. 15, 16 km. NW of Sudbury.
- The township was surveyed in 1883 and named after Thomas Blezard, a Scot who was then the member of Parliament for East Peterborough. The township and the community of Blezard Valley developed as the CNR was being pushed through the area.
- When the timber resources were depleted, settlers turned to farming. When the post office was established in 1899, the community took its name from the township and added 'Valley' because of the valley in which it is located.
