Pop. 546. In McNab T., Renfrew C., on Lac des Chats, (a lake formed by the Ottawa R.) and C. Rds. 1 & 3, 6 km. NW of Arnprior.
The post office opened in 1872 as Braeside. The name, chosen by founder W. J. McDonald, is Scottish for 'the side of a hill' and the name of a town in Renfrewshire, Scotland.
