- Pop. 212. In Stanley and Tuckersmith Ts., Huron C., on Hwy 4 and C. Rd. 3,29 km SE of Goderich.
- The first settler of what is now Brucefield was Peter McMullen who arrived about 1833. A Mr. McGowan established the first store.
- He is said to have named the community in honour of Major Bruce, a brother-in-law of Lord Elgin and his aide-de-camp during his term as governor general of the province of Canada
