- Pop. 98. In Harvey & Smith Ts., Peterborough C., on the Trent Canal and Lovesick and Stony Ls., on Hwy 28 just S of its junction with C. Rd. 36, 32 km N of Peterborough.
- The nearby township of Burleigh was named in 1822. The community's site was surveyed in 1864 by J. W. Fitzgerald.
- The place was called Burleigh Rapids, Burleigh Falls Locks and Burleigh Sault until being named Burleigh Falls in 1864 after William Cecil, Baron Burghley (1520-1598), Queen Elizabeth 1's chief minister.
- The first postmaster in 1864 was James Goldboume, first reeve of Burleigh T.
