- Pop. 329. In Gloucester T., Reg. Mun. of Ottawa Carleton, on Bear Brook, and C. Rd. 14, 16 km. SE of Ottawa.
- Surveyors laying out the townsite in the early 1860s called the place Cathartic because of the healing qualities of six natural mineral springs they discovered.
- In 1867 Danny Eastman built a roadside inn to cater to guests seeking the supposedly curative powers of the mineral waters, and the place became known as Eastman's Springs.
- In 1906 the community was named after a famous health spa in Czechoslovakia.
