Pop. 126. In Haliburton C. at the N end of Twelve Mile L and on Hwys. 35 & 118, 16 km. W of Haliburton.
In 1867 the community was named after Henry Howard Molyneux Herbert, Earl of Carnarvon.
He was British secretary of state for the colonies 1866-1867 and 1874-1878 and guided the British North America Act through the British Parliament in 1867.

I have wonderful memories of canarvan. I spent alot of time there at my grandmas Reta Carr. I was born in Minden... if you live in Canarvan you are very lucky... I wish I was living there... enjoy this great place
