- Pop. 25. In Renfrew C. on the Ottawa R at the Wend of the Lac des Chats section and C. Rds. 1 & 20, 11 km NE of Renfrew.
- In the 1820s Lt. Christopher James Bell came here to settle his land grant and named the place after his birthplace in West Yorkshire, England.
- In 1832 a post office opened here as Castleford, but the place was renamed Warnock in 1889 when the Castleford designation was given to a CPR station just east of here. In 1891 the community resumed being called Castleford.
