Pop. 100. In Brant C. on Hwy 53, 15 km SE of Woodstock.
The place was first called Sydenham after Charles Edward Poulett Thomson, first Baron Sydenham, governor-in-chief of British North America (1839-1841).
In 1856 the community was renamed to honour Gen. George Cathcart who was killed in the battle of Alma in the Crimea.
