- First called Chaffey's Mills after Samuel Chaffey who settled after the War of 1812 and operated lumber, grist, fulling and carding mills and a distillery.
- Also known as Chaffey Locks Post Office, Chaffey Lock Post Office and Chaffey's Lock Post Office. Chaffey died of swamp fever in 1827 and never set eyes on the locks.
