  • Pop. 527. In Dome T., Kenora Dist., on Red L., 13 km. N of Red Lake, terminus of Hwy 105.
  • The post office was established as Cochenour in 1951.
  • The name honours brothers William Mellis 'Bill' and Edward Charles 'Ed' Cochenour who prospected in the area in the mid-1920s, staked claims in 1924, formed a mining syndicate and in 1939 started a mine which resulted in develop ment of the community.
