- Pop. 1,466. In Essa, Innisfil, Tecumseth, and West Gwillimbury Ts., Simcoe C., on Hwy 89 and C. Rd. 27, 21 km S of Barrie.
- The place was settled in 1826 by John Perry and first known as Perry's Corners. The name was then changed to Dixon's Corners for a tavern-keeper named Dixon.
- In 1847 the place was named Cooks Town, and subsequently Cookstown, for settler Thomas Cooke, who arrived in 1831.
