Pop. 7,500. In Moore T., Lambton C., on the St. Clair R. opposite Stag I. and on the St. Clair Parkway, 9 km. S ofSarnia.
Corunna was surveyed in 1823 as a possible site for the capital of Upper Canada, but was considered unsafe because of its proximity to the United States. John Farquharson was among the first to settle in 1836.
The post office opened in 1852 as Corunna, named after the Battle afCorunna in Spain in 1809, where Sir John Moore's victory marked the turning point of Napoleon's power.
