- Pop. 1,285. In Nottawasaga T., Simcoe c., on the Mad R. and C. Rd. 9,27 km. SE of Collingwood.
- The village is believed to be the site of the Jesuits' St. Jean mission to the Petun Indians and the place where Jesuit missionary Charles Garnier was killed by the First Nations Peoples in 1649.
- Garnier was canonized in 1930. The first postmaster was appointed in 1849 and the place was named by Sen. James R. Gowan. Creemore derives from the Gaelic, creagh mhor, meaning 'big heart.'
